It was also one of the first companies to produce video poker machines and multiplayer electronic table games.
IGT has a very long history, and it holds a special place in the history of LadyLucks. In fact, the provider briefly owned LadyLucks when it acquired Probability Games in 2014, back when it was still a casino. But we’ll get to that in due time.
First, let’s take a look at IGT’s long and fruitful history. Of course, with a huge developer comes a huge history. We’ll summarise it as briefly as possible and then move on to their games.

IGT was founded in 1975 under the name A-1 Supply. The company changed its name to Sircoma in 1978, and then to International Game Technology in 1981. That same year, the company went public and became listed on NASDAQ.
The company became renowned in the late 70s for its video poker machine. Their next big leap at the technological level came in 1984, when they acquired Electronic Data Technologies. This made them one of the first providers to use computer technology to track returning players. They then contributed to the development of loyalty programmes for frequent players.
IGT began developing electronic gaming technology before online gambling existed!
In the 1990s, the developer continued its expansion. The company was listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). It expanded its international sales and services offices across Europe and Asia, while continuing to acquire other companies.
The early 2000s were a time of more growth and innovation. IGT introduced several multiplayer table games, such as roulette and baccarat. By 2010, the company had sold over 2 million slot machines worldwide.
IGT became a major presence in the online gaming market in the 2010s.
When International Game Technology merged with Gtech in 2015, they formally changed their name to International Game Technology PLC. At the time, Gtech’s portfolio included Probability Games, which owned and operated the LadyLucks online casino.
In the five years since the merger, the gambling company has continued to produce numerous new games every year, including some of the most popular mobile slots. Today, they remain one of the biggest players in both the iGaming world and traditional brick-and-mortar casinos. Just think: in 2015 and, IGT won 15 major awards!
Brief aside: a note on LadyLucks
LadyLucks launched in 2011 and was the UK’s first dedicated mobile casino. It was during that time that it was part of IGT’s online casino sites.
If you wondered why we feature so many IGT game reviews and free demos, it’s because their catalogue was available to us first.
In 2017, LadyLucks was acquired by Alea. But in 2019 the casino ceased to operate, and the site was bought by Takkaro. Since then, LadyLucks has been an online casino guide focused on informing players.
International Game Technology gaming products have been around for so long, that it’s impossible to do justice to their entire catalogue in just one article. We’ll look at a brief overview of them, but make sure to read our in-depth game reviews, where you can play free IGT slots before playing for real money at online casinos.
Since 2010, the company has been focusing more and more on its mobile-based games portfolio. The number of slot and table games available to play on iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Android tablets and mobile phones has grown considerably over the last decade.
Land-based casino games
IGT has been making waves with their land-based casino games since they first got started. In fact, the company’s first big hit was a video poker machine.
Since the 1970s, International Game Technology has produced some of the best and most popular fruit machines, electronic table games and bingo systems for major casinos across the world, from Las Vegas and Atlantic City, to London and Macau.
With such a long history of producing slot games, it’s no surprise that the developer should have such a huge presence offline and online.

One of IGT’s biggest assets is their ever-expanding line of franchise titles.
Their franchise games include the Star Wars™, Sex and the City™, Family Guy™, Jeopardy!™ and Wheel of Fortune™ slot games.
As a matter of fact, some of their most popular titles are part of their Wheel of Fortune series, based on the now-classic TV game show.
International Game Technology was one of the first and biggest innovators with progressive jackpots.
Since 1996, the Wheel of Fortune slot has remained one of the most popular slot games out there. Part of the reason for its success is that it’s one of the highest-paying progressive jackpot slots in land-based and online casinos.

Video poker games & table games
It’s no surprise that International Game Technology is one of the dominating developers behind online video poker and table games. The company has been making electronic multiplayer games since long before online gambling was even possible.
IGT has never been slow to adapt to new technologies, and they caught on to gaming on social media early on.
In 2012, they acquired Double Down Interactive, whose Double Down Casino is the biggest free-to-play casino on Facebook. This made them the provider of more than 30 games to over 5 million players worldwide.
