Theme & gameplay
As with many BetSoft games, The Hive relies on a cute, cartoonish style of design to build a quirky little universe abuzz with honeybees.
The symbols include a whole array of colourful flowers, along with quirky insects to accompany the bees, such as ladybugs. The royal symbols themselves are made of honey.
Meanwhile, the background opens to a bright green field, and animated bees fly in and out of the hive to add life and action to the game.
The gameplay itself also fits with the theme, as the Cluster Pays system has symbols spread out in a honeycomb shape pattern with different rows per reel (3-4-5-4-3). This means that 19 symbols are present on the screen, and they create winning combinations as they cluster into predefined shapes.
A honey jar meter fills up as you score wins. Filling it up will trigger greater features and rewards.

All in all, The Hive is an excellent slot machine that is in line with Betsoft’s premium slots. While it can be entertaining, it is not recommended for regular players. Given its very low payout potential, I doubt it’s intended for this category of player. This slot is ideal for those who want to relax after a long day.
