Ancient Pharaohs and Gods
Scarab Riches uses classic ancient Egyptian symbols which start with a Nemes headdress, a Queen’s headress and god Horus headdress. There is also a dog statue dedicated to the god Anubis and cat statue dedicated to the goddess Bastet. The symbols don’t reinvent the wheel but are colorful and attractive. To the back of the reels lies the golden sands of the Sahara Desert and the blend of Egyptian-themed music and sound effects augments the theme.

Wild Scarabs
The scarab wild is a symbol that can appear on any reel and replaces all other symbols except for the pyramid scatter symbol. The scarab wild can also form the highest paying line of its own with 3, 4 or 5 paying out 1x, 4x or 16x total bet.
Wild Scarabs Feature
The Wild Scarabs Feature is randomly triggered and places anywhere from 3 to 12 wild scarabs in random positions. It can appear in both the main game and extra spins.

10 Extra spins Feature
Ten extra spins are unlocked by the appearance of three pyramid scatter symbols on the odd-numbered reels. The scatters are not scatter-pays, which is a drawback of this game. To enhance the extra spins, the Wild Scarabs Feature can appear more frequently.

Scarab Riches opinion: An enjoyable low-medium volatility slot
Scarab Riches is an excellent contribution from Booongo to the crowded world of Ancient Egyptian-themed slots. While some might argue that the slot is short on features – the 25 paylines, Wild Scarab Feature and extra spins meant that we don’t need a ton of them anyway!
While Booongo does not state the variance of this slot, my opinion is that it’s low-medium. The volatility is a sharp contrast to a slot like Book of Dead from Play’n GO, which has a very high variance. What this means is that we can likely play this game for far longer. While we’ll never get the big win potential of Book of Dead, returns of 30x – 50x total bet was challenging but not impossible. My best outcome was almost 115x during the extra spins, which was a significant outlier and not typical.
I must admit that I was somewhat disappointed that there were no scatter wins, but the extra spins do have the potential for some above-average payouts. Another positive that I came away with from this slot was that the features trigger relatively often.
Overall, this game is a solid contribution from Booongo and worth a try!
