Yokozuna Clash is a medium volatility, sumo wrestling themed slot from Yggdrasil.
Yokozuna Clash : Welcome to the world of Japanese wrestling
Yokozuna Clash from Yggdrasil is based on an interesting theme of Japanese sumo wrestling. While this is not the first of its genre, it is not the most common so fans have a particular reason to get a little bit excited over this August 2019 slot.
References to Godzilla?
Yokozuna Clash medium volatility slot is a 243 pay both ways game from Yggdrasil based on the Japanese theme of sumo wrestling where prizes can reach a pretty considerable 86,000 coins while featuring a multi-level extra spins game and Feature Clash. The artwork uses a cartoon style, with four higher-symbols represented by creatures. The developer leaves it up to our imagination as to what they actually are but Godzilla characters sprung to mind.
The four lower-paying symbols are hard to confuse since they are card suit symbols. The soundtrack would seem appropriate given the theme and there are the additional audio effects from triggered features and payline wins. This game has an RTP of 96.3% and we can vary the wagers from as little as £0.10 to as much as £100. It has been designed with mobile, tablet and desktop in mind so we can take the slot anywhere we want to go providing we have an Android or iOS device.
Tournament extra spins
The Tournament extra spins is a feature that is triggered with two free spin scatter symbols. When triggered, a random sumo wrestler from the base game is chosen to do battle with two tournament free spins sumo wrestlers. The number of extra spins are not fixed and are determined by a power metre.
A winning combination from the left will slide the power meter by 2 bars to the right while a win from the right side will slide the power meter by 3 or 4 positions to the left with an extra feature awarded.
The extra spins end only when the power meter is completely shifted to the left. On the other hand, if the power meter bar shifts completely towards the right, then we advance to the semi-finals to fight the dreaded Yokozuna. By beating him, we collect an additional 2x free spin multiplier!
The slot has an RTP of 96.30%.
Randomly awards up to 2 wilds on the middle three reels during regular games. In the semi-final extra spins, we are randomly awarded up to 3 wilds or 2 to 4 wilds in the final round extra spins. A hit by him will slide the power meter bar by 2 during the extra spins.
Randomly awards either a 2x or 3x multiplier in the regular games. In the tournament extra spins, he will award a 2x to 4x multiplier. A hit by him will also move the power meter bar by 2 to the right during the extra spins.
O’Conner (Scottish Sumo)
Randomly awards a 2x to 4x multiplier on spins where he succeeds in pushing the power meter bar towards the left. A hit by him will slide the power meter bar by 3 to the left during the extra spins.
Daisuke (Buff Sumo)
Randomly awards up to 3 wilds on spins where he succeeds in pushing the power meter bar towards the left. A hit by him will slide the power meter bar by 3 to the left during the extra spins.
Yokozuna (Demon Sumo)
Randomly awards from 2 to 4 wilds along with a 2x to 4x multiplier on spins where he succeeds in pushing the power meter bar towards the left. We’ll only encounter this big boy if we can get out of the first tournament free spin round! This is a good thing since a hit by him will slide the power meter bar by 4 to the left.
This is a 243 pay both ways slot featuring the Sumo Clash Feature and Tournament Extra spins.
Sumo Clash Feature
When we win on five of a kind than the sumo wrestlers clash awarding from 2 to 4 additional symbols, identical to the winning ones. This feature is only available during the extra spins.
I like the slots designed by Yggdrasil, there are several slots that I like to come back to play from time to time like Victoria Wild and its massive winning potential or the sequel to the original Valley of the Gods slot.
Yokozuna Clash opinion: full marks for originality
As far as originality goes, Yokozuna Clash scores pretty high up there with their Tournament Extra Spins and Sumo Clash Feature. They’re both entertaining as well which is good since they are the only two. Don’t get overwhelmed with the extra spins rules as they can be a little confusing at first! The game has good payout potential and the hit rate on extra spins is also pretty good so we will not be waiting too long to trigger the extra spins.
I also liked the 243 pay both ways mechanics. The shortage of features may bore some players pretty quickly, but I think that some players will appreciate the medium volatility slot’s net positives.
