Rainbow Riches Megaways overview
The game takes us back to the pastoral Irish theme of Rainbow Riches. The design has been updated with a more 3D feel, and bright colours dominate the landscape.
The game takes us to a green meadow covered by a rainbow that bursts forth from a pot of gold, which overflows with a leprechaun’s hoard. The quaint cottage in the background and the peaceful chirping of birds remind us that we’re here to relax in the countryside, while we play to win a magical treasure.
Then, when you hit the spin button, the music starts and makes you want to dance along with the jolly celtic folk soundtrack.

Gameplay
Rainbow Riches Megaways™ has six reels, plus one horizontal reel. The vertical reels have a changing number of rows, so with each spin they can have anywhere between two to seven symbols. As is standard in Megaways™ slots, the cascading reels cause winning combinations to be cleared out and replaced by new symbols, which bring on the possibility of more wins.
The pay symbols are the standard royals (10-A), and five high-paying gems.
There are three special symbols:
- Super Gem Bonus: appears on the horizontal reel and causes all gem symbols to turn into the same matching symbol.
- Pot of Gold: scatter symbols that trigger free spins.
- Horseshoe Wilds: replace all other symbols on the reels.
- Multipliers: increase winnings during free spins rounds.

The super gem bonus is exciting when it first appears, because it brings the expectation of watching all the gems on the screen turn into the same symbol and yield big wins. What’s worth noting? Rainbow Riches Megaways™ has a high volatility and a 96% RTP, which is slightly more than that of the first Rainbow Riches game. Other than that, some cosmetic changes are more the result of evolving technologies than of creativity on the part of Barcrest.
