On June 25, 2020, Red Tiger Gaming released their latest wild west themed online casino game, Bounty Raid slot.

In this dusty themed slot game, you have to join a sheriff and a band of bounty hunters trying hard to catch a group of bandits and get back their ill-gotten loot. This game runs on Red Tigers RTG Core for the ultimate in-game experience.

But this is where the ‘normal’ ends as the game features a host of rather unusual bonus features and extras that is not expected of a normal wild west themed slot game. Also the gameplay of the Bounty Raid slot is not as expected.

Technical Features

In this Bounty Raid slot review you will find that the layout of the slot game is a rather basic 5 reel, 3 row slot machine layout which offers 10 paylines. In standard gameplay, winning combinations occur by three or more matching symbols on a payline.

The 5 bandit symbols are central to the wild west theme of Bounty Raid. Each of the 5 bandit symbols appears with a different prize value which changes with each spin.

The bandit with the white beard is the most lucrative and can award up to 50x your total stake. Payouts via these symbols become active as gameplay progresses through the other features.

Bounty Hunter feature

The Bounty Hunter features is a streak respin round that is kicked off by landing the female bounty hunter to appear on the reel in the centre. Any present bandit symbols from the spin are locked and respins are awarded.

The respins can only land gold coins or other bandit symbols. If a bandit symbol hits then that is also locked while an additional respin is awarded.

Theme and design

Red Tiger is known for their eye pleasing games and Bounty Raid is no exception. The standard game layout is framed by some standard wild west cowboy cow skulls that would not look out of place in a western saloon.

The background features a chase scene from the bounty hunter’s point of view. The soundtrack nicely compliments the action scenes and the game play.

Although wild west themed slot games are not new, the treatment that the developers at Red Tiger gives Bounty Raid is quite unique. Where a typical wild west scene features a sheriff chasing bandits, in this case we see the Bounty Hunter going after the crooks.

They symbols feature around the main characters such as the Bounty Hunter scatter, various treasure chests, classic revolvers, horse saddles, cowboy hats and boots.

Bounty Raid: serious lack of features

Thanks to Red Tiger Gaming’s pleasing visuals and audio soundtrack, the initial impression of the Bounty Raid is rather good on the face of it. While they turn the cowboys and crooks theme on its head with the bounty hunters, there is little to appease the hardened gambler after the initial scene is set. As the gameplay progresses, the lack of features become apparent.

Generally any RTP percentage below 96% is not very lucrative for the player and when this is coupled with average at best payouts, then even the newbie wild west theme lover will quickly move on. If the respin bonus feature gets on a roll then the player could be immersed a little longer but at the end of the day, the respin feature is just another respin feature – nothing new.
